Karina Dingerkus is an ecologist and she has had a great love of nature since early childhood. She grew up in County Mayo and enjoyed the freedom of roaming fields, playing in streams and spending many summer days on the coast.
She left Ireland at 18, to study ecology at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, returning to Queen’s University in Belfast to complete a PhD on the Irish Hare, before going to work in the UK for a number of years. She returned to live in Mayo in 2005, with her husband Richard. She enjoys going for walks with her young family and taking photographs of the places she visits and the nature she sees. She loves spending time outdoors and would be happy to spend all day gardening if she could. She helps run an environmental consultancy with her husband.
