Through photographs and a spectacular DVD presentation the centre commemorates the life and works of Father Patrick Peyton C.S.C one of Ireland’s most famous and influential priests internationally known as “The Rosary Priest.”
Follow his story from boyhood in Attymass, to Albany New York, where he dreamed of establishing the Rosary in ten million homes, to Hollywood, where the Stars generously donated their time and talents to help him express his vision.
His slogan “The Family that Pray Together Stay Together,” was a worldwide motto and as recently as 2011 a billboard with “A World at Prayer is a World at Peace.” was displayed in America where there is still great demand for his uplifting message.
When Father Peyton had first taken his idea to Hollywood, some were supportive; others called it impossible, and a few even refused to listen, but he was undaunted and succeeded in spreading his simple message of prayer and peace across the globe, speaking to over 26 million people and reaching countless others through radio and film.
It is easy to spend an afternoon at the centre, when you have watched the DVD, have one of the tour guides talk you through the personal memorabilia which is on display and answer any questions you may have. Browse in the souvenir shop before indulging in freshly made scones and a cup of tea, before enjoying a stroll around the beautifully maintained contemplation gardens which are dedicated to ‘Peace in Ireland.’
The centre offers an up-to-date, contemporary, informative experience telling the story of a man who was a media giant at a time when very few understood its power.
